The Rivertown Revival was a popular success for several thousand visitors came in a variety of steampunk outfits and costumes to ride giant sea saws, dance to music, play games, and get married for $5. We had a pretty darn good day thanks to all the docents who worked many hours interacting with all the visitors to our PWA tent and information booth. It was great exposure for PWA and we talked with many community leaders. We had many kids of all ages come through our booth to discover the wonders of beaks and feet and feathers. It was great to see their faces as they intently used the various tools to emulate feeding with different bill shapes. We had a couple of former 3rd graders that came through our ED program who were now about 3 years older and impressively and proudly express their past learned knowledge. It was reaffirming for us to see how much information they had retained. Six families signed up to be on the email distribution list for the two annual Kids’ events and three individuals expressed interest in becoming docents. The local newspaper Press Democrat covered the event as well as some Local videographers . See more pictures below.
Rivertown Revival 2017 was great fun for the PWA docents as well as the many interested youngsters and families that stopped by to look at and handle many items that teach about birds. Thanks to Friends of the Petaluma River to give PWA this opportunity to participate in the festival.
