On Sunday, July 17th, Petaluma Blvd. was closed to vehicles and opened to walkers and bikers, directing them to cross Washington to access Lynch Creek trail and travel across town to Lucchesi Park at the east side and Walnut Park on the west.
Booths were set up in both parks by nonprofits with interactive and informative activities for all ages. Petaluma Wetlands Alliance set up a booth where kids made pinecone bird feeders or played wetland Jenga. Our new postcard in English and Spanish promoted our docent-led walks, (between October and June) and field guides were on display to be purchased at Copperfield’s and elsewhere in town. (No selling at the booths was permitted.)
Special thanks to Hella Merrill, Noeleen, and Anne and Jerry Taylor for assisting at the booth! Our booth was well attended, with a constant flow of bird feeder makers, Jenga players, and adults who learned more about our organization!
